The Reality of the Inevitable

The penchant of politicians to blame every one, everything except their own misguided policies is a as rampant as can be in Washington. The rhetoric of blame and denial in the face of a financial credit downgrade is another symptom of a psychological malady known as politics where the politics make good policy as aopposed to good policy making good politics. The blame game is simply just a symptom of the modern Liberalism that has slowly infected every facet of our lives to date. A perfect example was John Kerry invoking blame on the Tea Party; "this is the downgrade of the Tea Party..."..What? Remember how Columbine was the fault of America owning too many guns, didn't some fat guy make a movie about that once? I guess our $14 trillion debt is the Tea Party's fault.  Holy crap, did I drink 'that much' at the last rally?
I cannot understand why the President has remained silent on this recent S&P report. He usually has something to say about everything: Joe the Plumber, Cambridge police, that guy with ten kids who needs a large SUV, I have been trawling the internet and have not heard word one about this from the Chosen One. The trump card they always pull out (Bush's fault) goes unoticed by anyone any more. The stupified Liberals Pavlovianly wag their tails all the time anyway so who cares anymore? John Chambers of S&P gets down to brass tacks when he said that given our ratio of debt to growth, given that growth looks dismal, what choice did they have? These are facts, they are stubborn things and that is soooo imbarassing to this Administration!

I do not want to see Geithner resign from the Treasury. He is doing a fine job of reasurring an Obama defeat in 2012. Leave him right where he is! Leave Jeffery Imult as Jobs Czar. Hell, you think Bush and Haliburton were in bed together? These two probably have  secret love tape hidden somewhere. As least bush and Haliburton provided jobs to AMERICAN CONTRACTORS! GE has just shipped 50,000 jobs to Mexico to make the old fashion incandescent light bulbs while simultaneously helping to pass legislation that outlaws them here in the US in favor of "green bulbs" made in China..By GE..
I want to hear more of Nanny McPhee Moochelle's consternations on America's growing waist line while the media prints pictures of her stuffing a cheeseburger in her maw during every vacation. I want to hear more of Harry Reid lies while his brother continues to get financial kickbacks thanks to the Senator. Let it continue, someday Reid will be out of office and an Attorney General who really understands the law will put those two in jail. Speaking of AG's, I want the terrorists tried in Civilian Courts so half of them can sue us, return home, come back and blow something else up. Why?
Because facts are stubborn things and Americans have forgotten the one fact that we are nation born from facts. We are Exceptional on everything we do and represent but have forgotten it. We have medicated ourselves with political correctness, whined about our mommies and daddies and our Bi-polar condition, sucked a check every month because we have vertigo, or, OCD, we have grown up under Liberal Agendas and Bi partisan bullshit for so long that we truly do need a tire iron swung at our skulls to wake us the hell up again! So let us go bankrupt, let the well run dry. The only thing that will happen then is more blame, some rioting but eventually, eventually the hard truth will come shining through and we will be forced to get off the couch, or wheelchair, or off the Adavan..whatever.

The reality is that this Administration is run by radicals. Radicals who have been educated in the "I hate America" axiom. None of them understand business, none of them have a business education from what I can gather. Most of them have an education in Social Awareness (Lefties).  It is all well and good to say how you would like to teach the world to sing but what do you do when you realize it is not in perfect harmony with the tenor section determined to kill all of us?
The only hope for this country is the continued growth of the Tea Party as a national popular political movement. To galvanize the nation in the face of abhorrent obstacles is the hope of the Tea Party itself. Seeing the problems become more gargantuan is the only way for us to face the truth of our situation. So let it all happen because talking about it has yeilded nothing..

...Oh, and Mr President, stop invoking the words of Ronald Reagan. I remember Ronald Reagan, Ronald Reagan was my President. You Mr. President are no Ronald Reagan..

One Bad Political Acid Trip , Man

I woke up this morning with a new sense of doom. Just as I was getting used to spending for hundred thousand years paying off the national debt, I now have to live another two hundred thousand years. I would go back to college with all that time I now have if the cost of it wasn't so astronomical. Maybe I could evolve into another form of my species over six hundred thousand years, finally grow that third arm. God knows it will come in handy for the five jobs I am going to have to work just to feed myself and my family. How much does the average American have to pony up to meet their fair share?
It was interesting to listen to the Liberals talk about cutting the debt on the backs of the poor, but lumping more debt on the backs of the children is perfectly fine in their minds. The logic is staggering to fathom. I wonder if there is an alien race watching this madness and just laughing their tiny gray asses off. If they do exist they figured it out a long time ago, thats why they visit M-class planets like ours for amusement. It truly must be entertaining to watch a species go right down the toilet while on the verge of of technological marvels.
"Oops, they almost made it Quarg-Nak, you owe me twenty, hey what say we tool on over to Orion, I hear a galactic war is about to open up. I am bored here anyway. These idiots still use fossil fuels."
There is a scientist on that Morgan Freeman show, Through the Wormhole (appropriate title) that claims we will someday technologically become so advanced that we will transcend time and spread our seed to another star system. I don't see any welcoming mats being rolled out on that space faring journey. I cannot get my three dimensional thinking around Achmed Al-Jihadi reaching out in friendship to a race of beings that may have actually met God.
Half of me was glued to C-SPAN as I watched Maxine Waters read the e-mail Move On. org sent her to read on the chamber floor. It was the usual drivel about the Tea Party. The speech was so canned I am beginning to think it actually exists as a product on the grocery shelves. The other half of me had to steal away so I could check on my hiding place for my money just to be sure it was still there. I had hoped that this situation would end in default. I think we need a huge punch in the face to knock some sense into our blank stare. Ok, so the checks don't come. Do we all just revert to animals and freak out or find a way to pick ourselves up?..Nahh, we just freak out.
Delusion is the answer. Man, all those drugs in the Sixties really did mess this nation up becuase we have been on a poltical acid trip since day one. Only now its turning wierd and a little scary. The cellophane flowers of yellow and green are about to gobble us up like the Purple People Eaters. Hell, even in my salad days, even I knew I had to shake it all off and get to work the next morning. This overdose of delusion, on the other hand, has no end in sight!
Just exactly how are we going to get out from under this now? The talk before has always been around what to do in the short term. I want to know how we are going to pay this thing off in the long term? I want to know what the plan from the banks of the Potomac is going to be to tackle this bank note? Is the plan always going to be to qibble over how much to raise it and how much to cut, then argue over the scraps? Because scraps are all thats left. The budget is just going to cease to exist as a funding mechanism for the host of pet projects we all know and love. Everything taken in from now on is debt servicing.
...And the Left worried about the checks not going out to Grandma and some poor black child? They aren't going out to anyone ever again! Smooth move there Ex-Lax! Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the most brilliant minds of the DNC.
I am always accused of perceiving these issues too simply. I hope I never stop. Imagine if our elected saw things the same way? Essentially, what has occured here is everything the Tea Party and Glenn Beck warned us about and what the Liberals lied to us about. It is the line in the old Rush song The Trees, about how the maples and the oaks argued over sunlight and who should get how much of it. So, "they passed a noble law, now the trees are all kept equal by hatchet, axe and saw.."

Never Sign Anything!

Many young Americans simply do not understand their Constitutional rights or the protections granted to them as they go about their everyday lives. A recent court decision on filming police during a bust (or otherwise) has been supported as a protected right. One area that has little attention is the signing of "write-ups" at the work place. These nebulous documents have existed for a long time in America's industries. Essentially, a person accused of some rub of the rules is "written up" by a supervisor and is required to sign it as a testament to their acknowledgment of said offense. In many cases if you do not sign it you are threatened with termination. My advice to all who have, or may, experience this is; never sign anything. If they fire you, get a lawyer!

These documents are nothing more than coersion. They are a way of forcing you to abdicate your 5th Amendment rights. Companies have teams of lawyers telling them it is perfectly lawfull but therin lies the problem. What is lawfull may not be Constitutional. The interpretation of law varies from State to State and the interpretation varies according to which judge upheld that law and his/her interpretation of the Constitutionality of it...I know, I am getting complicated here, bear with me.

As a strict Constitutionalist myself, I always use that great document as a benchmark. If anything you face in life does not meet any of the requirements of any of the clauses or Amendments then what you face is bogus and has no weight. You should throw it back into the face of the accusor and tell them to pound sand. I will part with many of my Conservative coleagues here, but Ron Paul is very correct in his interpretation of the Constitution. Much of what our Government, legal system and businesses do in so far as enforcement, spending, agencies, etc is Un- Constitutional.

I always hear the term "I have a right". No you don't. I remember one time when I was young and broke and had my electricity turned off. I chased the meter man off my lawn. He came back later with the police. I knew he would do this, what floored me was the cop telling me "he has a right to shut off your power"..No he doesn't Mr. Policman..He has the "Authority" to shut off my power and your backing to enforce it. People of all walks mis-interpret authority with rights. Just because a Government body mandates a decision still does not grant a right. Rights do not come from Government, Rights do not come from Laws, Rights do not come in the form of a contract, sentence, agreement or two thirds majority. They are "inalienable". They exist simply because they exist. Reams of books line the shelves of prestigiuos universities of law trying to undo that simple fact.

Roe Vs Wade is a great example, Defense of Marraige Act is another. None of these cases have any merit in law or Constitution because both are nobody's damn business. The laws written against these issues also have no merit. It is none of your business what I do in my private life. I cam marry who I want and I can abort if I need to. That decision is between my family, my doctor and God. The laws in place today preventing or upholding are hold overs from a generation that also mis-interpreted the Constitution. It is bogus on all fronts.

Never sign anything. It is a defacto admission of guilt and the 5th Amendment clearly defines that. The 4th Amendment can be called into play because a coerced signature is a violation of search and seizure. I love to watch these cop shows where the idiot suspect blabs away. You say nothing, you sit down and say nothing. It is not your job to offer anything to the police. It is there job to discover it. The Miranda Ruling is absurd. The right to remain silent should not have to be read to any one. Remaining silent is your duty to your sovereignty. Besides after you have blabbed to the cops, everything you have said will be put into a report wich will be used as evidence against you..This, before, they finally read you your Miranda Rights.

It is difficult for many to get around this concept. We are 200+ years after the Constitution's enacting and we have had a miriad of interpretations that define us as a nation today. The possiblity that we have gotten it all wrong all this time is alarmingly real.

The simplicity of the document is its strength. The millions of pages written in an attempt to undo it are a testament to that strength. Never sign anything..Never admit anything..

American Exceptionalism; Radical Approaches Part II, Economic Growth

How do we begin to return to the starting point where American Exceptionalism was the first thought in every American's mind? How do we turn back the tide of Socialist policy dominating our current Government expenditures to re-create an America under self reliance? Right now, over 1 Trillion dollars are spent, from the start, on Socialist Programs. That translates into over one third of all Americans depending on the Government for a check to come in the mail for a variety of reasons. For every two people who work and pay into Social Security there are ten people who collect a check from those taxes. The numbers grow larger daily. Add to this the expeditures on the Bailouts and all the cash for "whatever" and our Government has become a doting father who just throws money at the spoiled child who always gets himself into trouble.

This has to end. What fails must fail and let the chips fall as they may. From disaster comes an opportunity for a clean up crew to make some money. It is called capitalism. Even in failure comes growth. The bailout of GM was terrible for a start up company called Tesla. Tesla makes all electric, hand built American made cars. Built for the select few who can afford them, Tesla was poised to capture a niche in the automotive market had GM been allowed to fail. Tesla was ready to buy up portions of GM and their factories and begin to build wholly American Made cars that were cost effective and all electric. It was not to be.

How do we return from this bizarre-o world we have entered?

Dependence on our survival as a Capitalist Nation we must first return to the principles of the Free Market. We cannot use the arguments of past to detract us from this idea. The days of the Robber Barons are gone, the Carpet Baggers, even the Oil and Railroad Trusts have been broken and are historical footnotes of a nation that no longer exists. Where history spoke of breaking up monopolies we now face an Administration that is hell bent on bailing them out for their own, mutual self preservation (both the Admin and the Corporation). This is polar opposite of what the Free Market represents. Companies must be allowed to fail to allow other companies to absorb them and create new opportunities for growth and human ingenuity. Even if an industry dies, something always takes it's place. Nature, as Economics abhors a vacuum.

The lament is always heard: We don't make anything anymore. What if there was a way to re-create that incentive to bring home what is now made elsewhere? In a nation of "tinkers" there is a plethera of people with ideas that are stymied once they start the process of Copyrights, Investment Captital, and just getting a prototype out to the masses. Never mind the Insurance Leaches.
What if we offered to companies a tax free period where they were required to bring manufacturing back to the US? What if we offered an extended tax free incentive to any start up company that wanted to make Televisions, or DVD players, or anything that is intrinsically American Technology, but is made in China today. Tax free; no SS, no income tax for employees, no corporate taxes for a set time period, adding that these companies must hire Americans who are unemployed. All money eraned is poured back into that company for further expansion. Then we further extend those tax breaks by taxing them at 1/3'rd the current rate for another set period of time. Would you consider this option?
Lets consider an "Opt-Out" for paying into Social Security. It is, actually, that simple. Employees are given the choice of paying into the system as always or taking what they have payed thus far in a lump sum check. There is a catch: You cannot cash that check. It must be put into a CD, Mutual Fund, even a simple Savings Account at your local bank where it grows until age 65. If you die before hand, that money goes to your spouse, children or any one you deem in your Will with the same caviat; That this money stays until age 65. What we create here is wealth for Americans and a Trust left behind for the dependents of the deceased. The "Safety Net" would be that no worker can join this "Opt-Out" Program until they have worked and payed into Social Security for 10 years. This guarantees a minimal payment for workers who are struck down and cannot work anymore.

These are, truly, Radical Approaches. We must consider these approaches when we are faced with looming deficits from a Local to National scale. These are just a chip at the glaciation that has become Washington DC. There is Insurance Legislation that must be scrapped with no regard to the Lobby Group that represents them. Either you compete or move aside.

Tort Reform, long spoken of and as easily dismissed must become one of the pillars of this Radical Approach Theory I propose. Any one can sue any one else for anything they feel injured by. Job related injuries, Medical Malpractice must be decided by courts and the presumption of evidence alone and not by limits set by Legislation. By removing selections of past Legislation and allowing the Free Market of Litigants to pursue the case on the merits of that case alone we will drive down costs and allow those injured to have fewer hurdles to overcome in bringing such a case to the People.

This list can go on and on. There is that much bullshit clogging the drain. Get the Department of Education to shut down, regulate EPA rather than EPA regulating. The past years of preservation, conservation and awareness of the general public has brought this nation back from the brink of species extinction. It is time we step back and allow the new awareness to take it's place. With communications becoming open and worldwide it is time for the FCC to close up shop. You cannot regulate or impose Government will upon the free flow of ideas and communications. The decorum of the airwaves must be regulated by the standards of the radio,TV, station itself and not the FCC. If you broadcast offensive material, then no one will listen. Free Market in action. These are just a pity few ideas.

Freedom and Liberty are more than words. The documents we rest our nation's future upon are just paper and pen. We tend to look upon them as such. Those documents are a feeble attempt by man to exclaim the value and justification of the rights of human dignity granted by God. These ideas are greater than the ideas themselves and far greater than the authors of those ideas. They are a bridge between the spiritual notion that all are created equal and the evolutionary notion that the human race must pursue this course or forever perish as a thinking, inventing and learning species..

American Exceptionalism; Radical Approaches Part I

American Exceptionalism must become the foremost Political Ideology of  21st Century America. It must replace Socialism and eclipse Conservatism. AE is an often talked about concept but is difficult for many to grasp. Debates rage between laymen and the educated over what this means, exactly, and both have ample evidence to support their arguments. AE encompasses both sides of the debate for no other nation is born out of the history that is intrinsic to the United States. No other nation tackles the problems of the disenfranchised as the United States, no other nation has created the immense wealth of so many, the freedom to choose our own destiny and the ability to weather the storms of a turbulent world, face down our enemies and still create stability for the average American Family; Stability of the rule of law, safety, plowed streets and a free, public education for our children. That stability is rooted in the day-to-day work of all of us who get up each day, unleash our swords and fight the dragon we call, the "daily grind". It is rooted in the man/woman who works two, three jobs, and still creates something (a better gizmo, art, school project, voting drive, anything). AE is the heart beat that has kept this nation alive during it's worst of times to come out, in the end, stronger and more aware of how sacred this mantle of American Exceptionalism truly is.

True to the nature of American Exceptionalism we are tasked from time to time to alter course and rewrite our future history. We are faced, at times, with Captains who steer our nation Arri and always the people bring the helm back on course. It is in our heritage and in our blood. No other nation, or it's people are so ancestrally linked to a document, forged by blood ink, created at a time when these ideas of Liberty were considered Sedition as these, The United States of America. Here is where American Exceptionalism finds its purpose of being. It was this radical idea of destiny of man, incumbent upon one's own fortitude, that forged the anvil that which the steel of a Superpower would be hammered. Failure was not an option. As hard as this concept may be for today's generation to understand; the creation of Liberty and Destiny are an evolutionary turn for Humanity. Adapt, or die. Freedom, placed squarely into your own hands carries great rewards or terrible consequences.

The 20th Century is heralded as "The American Century".  With victory in war and growing economic expansion came enlightenment, affluence, perversity, and eventually, adulteration of the principles of our Constitution. America became 'soft' as we grew comfortable with all we have built. We have depended on the immense power of our arms and State to "take over" the responsibilities we must do for ourselves. More, segmented, enclaves of society have devolved into dependents of that State. Freedom has allowed the growth of what author Alvin Toffler, in "Future Shock" calls, "subcults". All sorts of constituents grasping at the teat of Government largess and demanding that they have as much rights as any one else. They do not. Freedom is a responsibility not a weekly allowance. These groups now tailor our legislation, affect domestic and foreign policy. They are the new 'Captains' steering this ship of State in an altered course. They are funded, powerful and they vote.

Many of these groups are like spoiled children who demand and think nothing of the demands they make on the ability of the parent to provide. The purpose of a parent is to teach self reliance to the young. The parent, who is the State, is not responsible for the dolling out of monies, laws and legislation to provide for these spoiled groups. It is their responsibility alone to promote their own cause. They must learn to do this themselves. For, by doing so, they become more powerful than any Government edict can imagine. Every time that a new law was passed for rights, a cause, equality via the United States Congress there has been a gradual chipping away at American Exceptionalism and dependency on our Government to provide and uphold those ideals. Had any of these groups gone the way of economic demands, strikes, boycotts, sit ins, shut downs and stayed with those ideas alone without legislation; an entirely different history would have unfolded. It may have taken longer but the outcome would still be the same except with no mandated laws suppressing freedom. All, any of these "movements" have done is take away  from some to give to another. Instead of changing the perceptions of Americans naturally over time, it was forced upon us by lobbyists.

We cannot change the history we have been handed. All we can do is take a fresh look at how we arrived at this point and take into context the ramifications of those decisions. Hopefully, never make the same mistake again. We must begin to defund many of these programs to allow our children to grow as they must. American Exceptionalism is not granted by a handout but by allowing individuals to compete fairly in the open marketplace of ideas, economics, and justice. Many will fail and will be required to go it alone. There, they will find the truth in their own freedom and self reliance.

We have come full circle in the quest for equality to a point where idiocy reigns over common sense. This is the opposite of what our Founders envisioned for America. This is what American Exceptionalism is; not more mandates, but as few as possible to allow the growth of oneself.

The Importance of Constant Pressure, Part V; Wisdom of the Second Amendment

How fortuitous, that we have this short statement in one of history's most valuable documents. It is included to remind the politicians of the rest of the document and the people also. The Second Amendment is more than just a clause that allows us to hunt and defend the nation in the streets from invaders. It is a built in "reset" button for a Republic and provides hardware for the people to take back the nation and defend the very Constitution itself. No other Constitution written for other Parliamentary States includes this decree. The Second Amendement is one case in point to American Exceptionalism.

Many States within the Union have created obstacles for ownership, transportation and use of firearms. I am not in total disagreement with these ideas. But, as usual, many laws are perverted when it comes to defense of one's home, carrying a concealed weapon in public places, trigger locks, banning certain firearms, even shooting an assailant. A 1982 survey of prison inmates has found that 34% of inmates were scared off by, shot at by, wounded and/or caprured by a civilian who was armed legally. (justfacts.com/guncontrol, James Agresti, Reid Smith, 2010).

Statistics are always used on both sides of the Second Amendment argument to butress a 'for' or 'against' debate. Agresti and Smith point out; "..when statistics are involved, the determination of what constitutes a credible fact (and what does not) can contain elements of personal subjectivity". Every one with a personal story to tell cannot separate themselves from the emotional trauma of a particular event in their lives where a firearm was used. Whether that story be from a victim or a defendant, it is a responsibility not to be taken lightly.

Out of a 2009 US population of roughly 307 million, roughly 45% of households contain firearms (Agresti, Smith). We are an armed nation. It would be wise for our elected to remember this and to act accordingly. In reality they do realize this and have spent many sessions of Congress to disarm the American Citizens. Recent Supreme Court appointees Sotomayer and Kagan have both been involved in handgun cases and are both unsympathetic to Second Amendment Rights. Each have voted in past occasions ,while presiding in lower courts, to deny appeals to legal gun owners who challenged D.C.'s ban on handguns within city limits. One defendant used a handgun in self defense and was sentenced to prison anyway.

While serving as a 'part-time' Senator, then Senator Obama voted against any Judicial Nominee who was a supporter of private gun ownership. One Federal Appeals court in 2002 stated that private citizens can only own guns while in the service of the State (National Guard, Police). James Madison wrote in The Federalist Papers of his concern for having only an armed militia and the possiblility of a military coup. He countered that concern by defending the need for citizens to be armed in challenging such a coup and protecting Liberty. Madison states..

"To these would be opposed a militia amounting to near half a million of citizens with arms in their hands, officered by men chosen from among themselves, fighting for their common liberties, and united and conducted by governments possessing their affections and confidence.

Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of. Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms."

The last part of that statement is key. European Governments do not trust the citizenry to bear arms. In light of the Austerity Measures in place today through out Europe, and the riots we see on TV, I am inclined to agree. Defending a collapsed Socialist system with an armed population scares the shit out of me. Defending a Republic with an armed population from Socialist take over comforts me.

Historically, 18th and 19th Century Europe was quite voilent. Countless times armies invaded neighboring
countries. Revolution in France swept up into an aggressive Empire under Napolean. It was not uncommon for the wealthy to be armed at all times as they travelled and not fear using those arms. Seldom any legal repercussions would ensue. That is not the case today in both Europe and The U.S. Use of a handgun in self defense is a tricky endeavour. A wounded assailant may seek monetary compensation regardless of his/her crime. So be sure to shoot to kill.

In the book Firearms and Violence, A Critical Review editted by Charles Wellford, John V. Pepper, and Carol V. Petrie from the National Academies Press, 2005; people are reluctant to answer questions about use of their firearms, whether they own a firearm legally or illegally. The controversy surrounding the issue is first and foremost in the owner's mind. This should not be the case if you are a lawful gun owner.

"While surveys of firearms acquisitions, possession, and use are of varying quality and scope, they all share common methodological and survey sampling-related problems. The most fundamental of these is the potential for response errors to survey questionnaires. Critics argue that asking people whether they own a firearm, what kind it is, and how it is used may lead to invalid responses because ownership is a controversial matter for one or more reasons: some people may own a firearm illegally, some may own it legally but worry that they may use it illegally, and some may react to the intense public controversy about firearm ownership by becoming less (or even more) likely to admit to ownership (Blackman, 2003).

While in most surveys respondents are provided confidentiality, the concern is still expressed that violations of confidentiality directly or through data mining could lead to the identification of specific respondents in a way that might allow the identification of firearms owners."

For every story of an accidental shooting, there are ten fold examples of safety training, responsible storage and locking of firearms. For every tragic tale of a criminal shooting there are less than 1/10 of 1% examples of a lawful gun owner using said gun in the commission of a crime. Every time there is a sensational news story of a mass shooting spree the perpetrator is almost always in possession of a firearm illegally. Where the real tragedy comes from is that the victims are resricted form carrying their own, legal firearms at the places they are murdered in..

The wisdom of the Second Amendment is that it protects and defends everything held within the Constitution of the United States..

The Importance of Constant Pressure, Part III; Eliminating Instituted Stupidity

I am always amazed at the level of  pettiness and stupidity that reigns in our society. The inability to think something through in a common sense manner is over ruled by policy and  "guidelines". Innovators in the workplace are always telling their staff to "think outside the box", then reject half of what is developed because it means some one's world has to change.

The Deficit Reduction meetings these past weeks is a prime example of pettiness and stupidity. The recomendations weren't fifteen minutes old before every targetted group postured against any cuts to their specific departments. The stupidity continued when the recomendations, we learned, don't take affect until 2050. and are the usual bureaucratic nibbles we have seen forever. No real change at all.

Being prepared to make the sacrifices is a monumental step for some people. Comfort and familiarity equals a sense of psychological security. Anytime we are taken out of that zone confusion and insecurity set in. It takes time to adjust to a new paradigm. But, adjust we do, and, with determination, excell where we thought we would fail. Confidence grows and fear slips away.

The new Congress must be willing to stop all new "programs", repeal completely those directly affecting prosperity. Waste in all agencies must be halted and those dollars recovered. With over 10 trillion in unfunded liabilities about to hit our Federal Budget, some radical ideas must be employed. How about this idea for Social Security?
Opt Out. Allow Americans to not be part of Social Security altogether. Those currently paying into the system can take a one lump payment equal to the total they have paid to date. But, here is the catch. You do not get that money in your hand. It is put into a high yield savings account, cd, or 401k of your choosing and cannot be accessed until the age of sixty five. Unlike Social Security allows; in the event of your death before age sixty-five, your spouse, or your children become the beneficiaries of that savings account. Again, they cannot access the money until retirement age. This money grows in a secure bank account, puts money into the private sector, hell you could even borrow against it if you had to.
There is only one problem with this idea..It makes too much sense and never will be considered.

This is what I mean by radical ideas. We must look at the situation we find ourselves in and admit that the policies of generations of Presidents, Congress' State and Local Administrations have mostly failed and rarely succeeded. As Frederic Bastiat has said in his pamphlet "The Law"; "...law, by no means confines itself to its proper function". Bastiat goes on to say that, "Self preservation and self development are common aspirations among all people". There are few who will argue that allowing Liberty to be the benchmark in consideration of a new law should be first and foremost. This is never the case. Each law passed is restrictive and counter intuitive to Liberty.

Even the measures taken to ensure a minimal safety net for society demand something from society.  Social Security is a noble idea but is still antithetical to individual responsibility. As Milton Freidman points out, it is not Government's responsibility to help the poor, it is our (society's) responsibility to each other as human beings. Social Security is akin to Bastiat's "...francs to keep us quiet, like throwing us a bone to gnaw". The issue of the poor and the elderly cannot be solved in one dossiere, nor do I attempt to solve it here. I am just creating a thought to be considered.

By allowing a society to flourish unfettered by Governmental restraint truly is Ronald Reagan's theory; a rising tide lifts all boats. Taxation is nothing more than legal plunder. Legal plunder is taking from some one who earns to be given to some one who does not. The persons who benefit from this plunder will be the first to argue in it's defense. (This is the contigent I spoke of in Part I backing up the Government).

Socialism is legal plunder and as the laws are written to uphold the concept of Social Justice Government will use the legal system and it's armies to protect it. They may even circumvent the legal system under the mantle of  "averting a crisis". Socialists could care less about the disenfranchised they claim to be looking out for. They are a monopoly and act wholly for their own ends.

Civil war is easy, electing Conservative Legislators is easy, educating people is easy. Creating an environment where we accept the hard facts that sacrifice and a 180 degree turn  back to Constitutionsal values is very, very difficult. We are several generations separated from those early days of rugged individualism. Where do we start? Many of us don't realize we are most likely closet Marxist Socialists. We like our comfort, we like our Social Security and the knowledge of an Unemployment Check or our Tax returns. We like our public funded schools, we don't have to think about it yet complain when they get into our private lives (and we should, it's none of their business).

I will close this piece with another reminder from Frederic Bastiat; " ..if the purpose of law is to cause justice to reign, it is not a rigorously accurate statement...the purpose of law is to prevent injustice from reigning.. Justice is acheived when injustice is absent.."

....And That Is The Diatribe....
